Becker's Box
This renovation and extension transformed a garage workspace in to a spacious and comfortable home. First built in the early 60's as storage for a classic car collection with a second storey residence built over.
The main kitchen/living area is now located at ground level, allowing it to connect with the alfresco, courtyard and swimming pool down the side of the house. This allows an ideal entertaining zone, and connected open plan living.
A new glazed wall extends along the length of the pool to give the living area an outlook and synergy with the water.
The dog-leg entry hall offers intrigue and privacy uses the timber "Wave wall" as a precursor leading visitors in from the boxy exterior, and introducing the house with soft natural materials.
The first floor has been re-arranged to accommodate the bedrooms, their connected bathrooms, and a cosy family lounge room that's satisfyingly isolated from the bustle of the main living space.
