The Enterprise
The brief was to create a functional contemporary floor plan using the harmonizing philosophy of "Feng Shui" suited to entertaining. Styling aim was to set this house apart from any other house in a estate with contemporary Singapore Organic fluid styling. Large living, Entertaining and master bedroom areas were to focus on the views of the Dandenong Ranges and adjacent lake. The home must also include direct access from the garage into the house via a cloak room, and through to the back yard. Plenty of personal requests include internal corners to be rounded off and a Japanese inspired Guest room with AV facilities on a raised unique timber platform.
The property makes up a string of homes, sited in the middle of a modern estate. Governed by the councils assets department abide by a strict design covenant. Proximity to the adjacent lake and prominent art gallery, and views to the Dandenong Ranges was the justification in buying the property. The calming lake views and surrounding parklands to the front, frame the site. The block sloped upward from the street but otherwise started as a moonscape.
Sweeping facades congregate toward the front door on the ground floor, while the organic shape alucobond facade wraps through the levels and offers an iconic home with ideal space usage. The pronounced shroud shaped to the building height setback line, offers Westerly sun protection and screening from incoming headlights to the estate. Rooms have been designed to selectively take in the North Easterly views to the Dandenongs. Related living zones also connect to private rear outdoor living areas. A prominent reflection pond was introduced to allow light & privacy to surrounding rooms, and a close link to a Japanese inspired guest/relaxation room with full A/V facilities. Personal touches included power/recessed hanging points dedicated to hanging decorations for the Chinese festive season.
